One of the most complex metal forming operations is the deep drawing process. In most sheet metal forming operations the finished part is produced by stretching or squeezing the metal into the desired shape. In deep drawing, the objective is to force metal to flow into a cavity to produce a part with minimal stretching and thinning of the material. This presentation examines the fundamental principles for designing successful deep drawing processes.
