In his keynote speech “Leadership, Strategy and Innovation in the Manufacturing Business”, Ret. Maj.-Gen. David Fraser will cover the impact of factors pertaining to the Canadian market, including its size, oil price and Canadian dollar, relationship between the West (resources) and East (manufacturing base). Mr. Fraser will offer a knowledgeable narrative on understanding the political framework beyond the rhetoric, as well as understanding the domestic and international environment, the Canadian culture versus the US, China and other countries. Attendees will benefit from an insightful talk on how to develop and execute a competitive and focused strategy with innovation at its core and how to overcome the challenges to organizational and procedural constructs in a rapidly changing market.

David completed a 30-year career with the Canadian Forces retiring in 2011 as a Major-General. His career was highlighted with operational tours around the globe leading multi-national forces, a tour in the US, commanding the Army training and education command along with numerous staff and project management positions. Highly decorated, in addition to Canada, he has been recognized by the United States (Legion of Honour and Bronze Star), The Netherlands, Poland and NATO for his leadership and organizational skills. He is the Vimy Award and Atlantic Council recipient for leadership. He was a panel member on the Jenkins Defence Procurement Study. After a brief stint in Dubai, David joined INKAS® Armored Vehicle Manufacturing where he provides his vast leadership and operational skills. He sits on the NRC Canadian Security Materials Roadmap Steering Committee. David is a member of several boards and he is a mentor at the Ivey Business School.
